We arrived in Copacabana, the main city on Lake Titikaka from the bolivian side. Apart from its funny name Lake Titikaka is famous as being the highest sailable lake in the world at 4000m high and is a lake on the border of Bolivia and Peru. Our first morning in Copacabana was spent going around the market to get delicious ingredients to have a yummy brunch and make a pic-nice too bring with us on our walk. We decided to go with Elodie and Anthony on a 17km walk to the next small town in order to get to see a bit more of lake Titikaka from the shore. It was really beautiful as we got to see a bit more of rural life. The next morning, we assisted at the strange tradition of the blessing of the cars. People drive all over from Bolivia and also Peru to bring their newly bought cars covered in flowers to get blessed by the priest of Copacabana. We then decided to sadly separate with Elodie and Anthony in order to make our way to the other side of the lake:Peru!

After having eat our much longed for ceviche, we decided to spend a night on one of the islands of the lake, where we are able to stay with a local family. On that island at a four hour sail away from shore we got to visit a beautiful village free from cars and really beautifully quiet. After a painful hike to the very top of the island (at more than 4000m!!) to go see some temples of Pachamama and Pachatata we got to see the most incredible sunset! Back on dry land and before catching our next bus to Cusco, we got to assist at the ‘fiesta del mercado’ where we got to see all the very funny peruvian woman twirling with there skirts, holding their beers in hand. We also got to sample some of the less finer peruvian cuisine, a dish of rice, potatoes and pasta in case one type of carb wasn’t enough!!!
