We loved cuzco right away with its market, its beautiful architecture, all the women selling crafts on the side of the road, its paved street in some areas, and all the French restaurant in the neighborhood where we were staying !!!! The first morning we let ourselves be tempted by one restaurant of crepes where we met 2 very nice girls from the south of France, Amaya et Emmanuelle. We then cracked all together for some «raclette » in the evening and spent, like good French girls, 4 hours around the table. After 7 month without French food I’ll let you imagine how happy we were to have crepes, cider , raclette and wine ! Besides being a really nice city, Cuzco is also located « nearby » the most famous touristic spots such as the Machu Picchu or the rainbow mountains. We decided to finish with the hardest, the Machu Picchu, and so start with the mountains with Amaya et Emmanuelle. The rainbows mountains are only 4 hours from cuzco but they’re closed in the afternoon so we had to wake up at 3:15 to be ready at 3:30 and initially leave at that time. But of course we had the driver who didn’t woke up so we left more around 4:30. And of course after 3 hours driving, we got a flat tire in the middle of a narrow mountain road. Besides the quite dangerous situation, the other problem was that in all those touristy spots if you don’t arrive among the first ones, after it’s just crowded with people... It didn’t fail. After almost an hour to change a tire (our driver wasn’t the best mechanist), we arrived at a mountains already filled with people . The crowd was for sure ruining the place a little bit, but the views still remained amazing ! And after a hard climb up to 5200 m, the view was even more worth it !
