Here we are in Chile, our first country in South America. We are both really exited as neither one of us have been to South America yet, we are also kind of freaked out as this means already half the year has gone by!! On our first day in Santiago we feel like two dead zombies walking - jet lag and 26 hours of binge watching movies in the airplanes dosent seem to be doing to well on our systems! Because our hostel can’t check us in before the afternoon, we decide to find a place to eat and head to the central market, which is a huge market selling fresh fruit, veg, meat, fish, everything! The atmosphere is great! We follow the recommendations from the owner for our hostel and order a sea food dish with cream and cheese - chilean cuisine dosent seem to be the most delicate, but its definitely tasty! We then head back to our hostel and pass out until the next morning! The next day we get our very own private tour of the city from one of my friends from Uni who now lives in Chile. He gives us a tour of the city worthy of a professional, bringing us to the main sights, giving us the history, ordering us traditional dishes, bringing us to the best ice cream in town - the whole lot, it was great! Santiago is an incredible city and feels very European though with an exotic flair! The only downside for us is that it seems to also have European prices. We are super happy to have found a workaday down south which will be giving our purses a break and give us a chance to experience the chilean country side!
