Our first day on the farm is a big one as it is the first day of harvest! Daniela and Pablo, the owners of the farm, have reunited friends, neighbours and us volunteers to pick their grapes. The vines here are very different to France as they are much lower to the ground and grow in a somewhat wild manner. Pablo also grows his slightly different to his neighbours as he focuses on making organic wine and therefore covers the land with weeds in order to preserve the humidity. Although different and maybe a bit more hard work, spending a day picking the grapes is really fun and we finish the day with a baby made of grapes in our belly (they were just too good to not constantly eat). Our first day on the farm however, we learn that Pablo and Daniela are vegans (Ahhh) and worse they don’t eat flour, sugar, oil… (AHHHHH) - we are really open when it comes to eating differently and especially when its better for the environment, but this was going to be slightly hard on our systems considering we were working all day. Not to worry this was the perfect occasion for a kitchen takeover! Thank goodness Daniela and Pablo were more then happy to let us use their kitchen and fruits and veg from the garden, we made a few attempts at pizzas, some good pasta, gaspacho and compote! Our few days here were very relaxing in an incredible setting. We decide to head further south to town of Pucon, famous for its lakes and volcano!
