We arrived in Inle lake very early in the morning, but determined to beat the overwhelming feeling of going to sleep, we hopped on bikes and decided to go for a cycle around the lake. The landscape was beautiful, very green and lush. After a little while cycling around the small lanes lost between the small villages neighbouring the lake, we decided to stop off at a place famous for their tofu making. None of us were too exited about this as we wouldnt usually consider ourselves big tofu lovers, but the tofu was sooo delicious and strangely enough, made for a good breakfast!! The owner of the restaurant then brought us around his small village where they specialise in making all different kinds of foods, mostly snacks. I would best describe them as the ‘snack artisans’ as they were packing all these handmade crisps, popcorn, and sweets all by hand and using quite primitive ways, it would make you appreciate a bag of crisps way more by seeing these methods then the ones they probably use in a pringles factory! After having enjoyed tasting all the various snacks we sat down and had a few early beers playing our favorite card game which we had been playing a lot in Mongolia and we were happy to rechchallenge! After a good few rounds we decided to cross the lake by loading our bikes on to a small boat and sailed our way across, the lake was very peaceful surrounded by houses on stilts and fishermen. We then cycled to a vineyard…strange right? Burmese wine! To be honest it tasted as good as one can expect from burmese wine, but the few beers earlier on in the day helped it go down like a treat! We then set off and found a lovely little restaurant which had delicious shan noodles, a speciality of the region and are quite gluey noodles topped with peanuts, spices and herbs, delicious! The next morning we headed for a stroll around the market before taking a boat ride on the lake to take a closer look to the ‘floating gardens’ wich are really impressive as they are floating plantation fields that look like they magically magically just floating. We then sadly said goodbye to Lea and Flore, delighted of our last week together and reuniting with so many stories to tell each other!

After a night in the bus back to Yangon, a night at the airport and a 12h delayed flight, our next stop: Seoul!
